About Rue
Growing up on the West Coast, Rue spent hours exploring plants and wildlife, developing a deep connection with nature on the island. In her early 20s, while working at Veterinary Simulation Industries, she began volunteering at an animal shelter, sparking her passion for dog training.
Rue completed a two-year apprenticeship under Aviva Shtull & BabyDog, worked with hundreds of private clients, and led group programs focused on obedience, behaviour, and socialization. She also completed a shadow program with Tyler Muto in Buffalo, NY—a leader in the rehabilitation of reactivity and aggression. Rue continues to grow her knowledge through courses, hands-on work, and collaboration with a strong trainer community.
In 2022, Rue moved to Courtenay, BC, and launched Isle Dogs Training. The community there was incredible—full of people willing to put in the work to improve their dogs’ lives. Those three years shaped Rue into a trainer aligned with her values and approach.
Rue’s passion lies in helping dogs move through fear, overexcitement, and reactivity by building confidence, resilience, and calm. She’s committed to giving every dog the skills they need for a life full of natural enrichment and freedom.
Now back in Victoria, Rue looks forward to supporting dogs and their people across Vancouver Island.
